This letter has been provided to the employees of Spirax Sarco, Inc. to ensure that they are able to travel to and from work as employees of an essential business that is a key part of the supply chain for critical steam equipment. Spirax Sarco’s employees meet the criteria for Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers under the guidance issued by the Director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency and the United States Presidential Policy Directive (PPD-21 dated 2/13/20). A copy of this letter is provided to you as our employee, customer or our supplier to inform you of our operating intentions at this critical time.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (“CISA”) and PDD-21 identify and provide guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Sectors. The sources have specified 16 Critical Infrastructure Sectors and essential workers “needed to maintain the services and functions Americans depend on daily and need to be able to operate resiliently during the COVID-19 pandemic response” and “whose assets, systems, and networks, whether physical or virtual, are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof.” Companies providing services in these sectors may be deemed by an employer as “essential” and, as such, are encouraged under the CISA/PDD-21 Guidance to continue operating. The guidance states that workers in these Essential Critical Infrastructure Sectors “have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule.”
Spirax Sarco is a manufacturer of steam management systems and associated fluid technologies required for uninterrupted operation of the United States’ Critical Manufacturing Sector, which is crucial to the economic prosperity and continuity of the security of the United States. As part of this Sector, Spirax Sarco manufactures steam management systems and associated components that are used throughout the United States’ other essential sectors, including the Healthcare and Public Health, Food and Agriculture, Government Facilities, Energy, and Chemical Sectors.
Spirax Sarco’s steam systems and related components are vital by supporting a variety of providers in essential industries including hospitals, pharmacies and pharmaceutical manufacturers, food and beverage production and distribution, energy and oil refineries, and chemical manufacturers. The continuity in manufacturing of Spirax Sarco’s steam management systems for these industries is crucial during the National COVID-19 response. We are a critical part of the ability of these sectors of our national economy to deliver goods and services to ensure their supply lines function in this time of national crisis.
Accordingly, we advise we shall enable our employees to continue to perform their employment duties, including allowing them to continue to travel to and from work, with due regard for their health and safety.
